September 2021 OVERVIEW
Now is not a time for dreaming…sigh…September is sadly a time for work. It’s Virgo season throughout the month of September and you’re about to exit the Matrix and jump right back into the Hyperreal™. We begin this month with a New Moon in Virgo on the 6th, with the Sun and Moon conjunct Mars. You are being urged to exceed your own expectations and work tirelessly toward a goal. This goal will likely feel hilariously small this month: it could be just getting your house clean, finishing your work on time, or making dinner every night. Virgo rules minutiae and you are SWEATING the small stuff. Some days are like that.
The alignment of Mars, the planet of aggression, with the luminaries is inspiring action. Issues of work, health, and responsibility will be front and center, so any whimsy is out the window. With Virgo making you exceedingly conscious of your limitations and to-do list, you might want to just cut loose and party, but you need to realize that what you do right now will affect you in the long run. Just be aware of the fact that what goes around comes around and you could end up regretting acting on impulse. Ant vs. grasshopper vibes (that old parable). Hint: you are the hard-working ant wishing you were the stoner grasshopper. No such luck, get back to work, bb. Your efforts right now will be potentiated if you can keep the vibes posi.
In the spirit of Sadie Hawkins, the masculine and feminine planets have swapped roles for most of the month. While Venus is being creepy as it enters Scorpio on the 10th, Mars is being soft and giving in Libra. Even so, you feel oddly into it: if you have to be a jerk about something, you’re the hot, loveable curmudgeon and if you have to be tough, everyone thinks you’re adorable and will do whatever you ask them. With Scorpio suddenly ruling the love in your life, there’s enormous potential for depth in sex and intimacy (specifically shared secrets come to mind). If you’re partnered, expect a deepened connection or reconnection. If you’re not in a relationship, you might want to keep your eyes open for one, if you’re into that kind of thing. Stodgy Mars can be kind of uncomfortable with Libra energy: compromise, flirtatious tenderness, and high art are a stretch for Mars. It’s going to be hard to put your foot down and you might end up doing more stuff for other people just because it’s *especially* difficult to say no right now. Some of us will feel a tug of war between the masculine and feminine inside ourselves. You’re not in your element–you’re feeling oddly turned inside out until you get your bearings at the mid-month Full Moon.
The Full Moon in Pisces on September 20 could be challenging, especially for methodical, practical thinkers. Neptune and Mars are involved, so you’re feeling both a little animal and also a little ”not of this earth” (don’t ask us how). Neptune rules our connection with the divinity and the subconscious, however, the trouble with this Full Moon is that you are never sure if you can believe what your senses are telling you. Reader, you can’t—it’s safest NOT to trust your feels right now. You can convince yourself of anything you want to believe and not everything is as it seems. Ceci n’est pas une pipe. Although the Sun in Virgo shows you unshakably protected by the soft blanket of reality, this Full Moon feels like a trap door: there is always the potential to realize that you’ve created a false sense of safety by reassuring yourself that you’ve got it all figured out.
All of the misplaced fantasies and delusional plans that come up to be vanquished this month can’t actually break you free of reality. Your pulling power is strong: this is just a gentle nudge to remind you that if you skew negative this month, your reality will likely reflect that. Saturn-heavy months are about cause and effect, and Virgo is a harsh mistress. Instead, take this bright opportunity with soft-boi Mars and hard bitch Venus to set new intentions. You can use this colossal, corrective energy to reset yourself and release any old patterns you’ve outgrown, lest they come back around to bite you. You may end up harnessing this power to move mountains in your life in September. With heavy Pisces involvement, your dream can absolutely be achieved, but you may need to contend with reality first. This month, realistic Virgo can keep you cuffed to a prison of your own making or it can untie the binds that have kept you feeling stuck.
BIRTHDAY SPOTLIGHT: Virgo (Aug 23-Sep 22)
Obviously, you deserve the best this month, Virgo babe, as your birthday season is in full-swing, granting more glamorous moments than you could have anticipated. It’s not every day that you get the opportunity to dazzle your audience because, in your heart of hearts, you don’t always love to have an audience to begin with. Okay, wait: your toxic trait is that you love an audience, but only the exact audience of your choosing at the perfect moments when you’re really hitting your stride. For the past few months though, you’ve been front and center, and you’re beyond ready for some hermiting. Things are going to start cooling from their roiling boil this month, and you’re welcoming this change. Self-care is a major to-do item this month and nobody will blame you for wanting to stay at home. Schedule a night in with friends instead of dressing up and going out. Order in, crack open the boxed wine, and watch a favorite throwback movie or show. On the 10th, when Venus enters Scorpio, you’re sitting pretty, because while everyone else has been making dramatic life choices, you’ve kept quiet and continued to focus on your bag. Your goals are certainly allowed to change, but it’s time to be absolutely committed to seeing them through this month. As a result, you’re due to catch a major windfall. If you’re not offered a raise, demand one. You know your worth: on the 14th when Mars enters Libra, it’ll be especially easy for you to communicate it.

AND NOW FOR THE REST OF YOU...
Libra (Sep 23-Oct 22)
It feels a little like going through the motions lately, as you just try to get stuff done and play the right cards. You know what they say: all work and no play…but, Libra, all of this is totally going to pay off because something truly amazing could come your way when you finally let go of your role this month. Venus is conspiring to bring joyful rewards into your life throughout the month, so keep your eyes open for money- and love-making opportunities. This is like a signal boost from the universe, proof that you’re kind of the favorite as we come into your birthday season at the end of the month. You’re ruled by Venus, the charming priestess of delight, so it’s only right that all of the finer things in life are coming your way. Mind your own business around the Full Moon. Nothing good will come of being at the center of someone else’s whirlwind. Your spinning plates are full of blessings, so why bother?
Scorpio (Oct 23-Nov 21)
You’re starting this month on high alert, feeling a little on edge after the summer of love tried to infiltrate your usually unshakable armor. The anxiety may be at an all-time high, but it’s not really necessary. Lean into what makes you feel abundant. If something feels sweet, allow yourself to taste it. Don’t deny yourself the joys of life simply because you’re afraid of getting too close to the fire. Hint, bb: You are the flame. They’re the moth, and they aren’t going anywhere, no matter how impenetrable you try to be. And guess what? Sometimes getting burnt is beyond worth it. Trust that you’re safe in what feels good, and let that cancel out your anxiety and fear. You, too, deserve happiness, and you will have the best of whatever you allow yourself to accept. Go deep; it’s one of your greatest strengths.
Sagittarius (Nov 22-Dec 21)
Old habits die hard, but you’re getting a chance at an easy exit. Especially for you, Sag, it’s not really that easy to simply start up a new exercise regimen, cut back on indulgences, or curb your spending. You usually dive headfirst, throwing yourself at new habits. But you tend to come up for air after sticking with it for only a few days, the temptation of the expensive cocktails or the pretty dress calling to you like a siren song. This time it sticks, though. And honestly, it’s leading you down a pretty amazing road toward hotter sex, a bangin’, hydrated bod, and a fatter savings account. Don’t give up so easily. This isn’t to say that indulgence is bad. Just be sure you are committed to what you really want and trust that the universe will reward you for it.
Capricorn (Dec 22-Jan 19)
When it comes to expressing yourself in relationships, you typically tend to be more subdued than you are forward. Usually, softness is uncomfortable for you and you’re not naturally inclined to communicate it. But this month, your stoicism is getting a little rest as you dive deeper into communicating your feelings. You have action in your third house of communication and community this month, activating some emotional deep-dives and heart-to-hearts. At the end of the day, you’re benefiting, which may make it easier for “what’s the bottom line” Cap, to justify being vulnerable. By the time the Full Moon rolls around mid-month, you’re being matched and the sweetness is being returned and rewarded.
Aquarius (Jan 20-Feb 18)
It’s almost like you’ve been sprinkled with mystical pixie dust and you’re magnetizing some major abundance vibes this month. There’s a fair chance you’ll be asked to make a big decision that changes the course of your life this month—whether that’s huge or not such a big deal is up to you. Regardless, if you’ve been working on your shit, you will see the needle move this month. You’re almost always the one breaking the mold anyway, but this month you’ll feel especially inclined to exchange tired, old patterns for more exciting and enlightening goals. This might require some sort of training or studying. Literally or figuratively, you are doing something that you’ve never done before and the transformation is apparent to everyone around you. They’re inspired, too.
Pisces (Feb 19-Mar 20)
This month, you’re desperate for a change of pace after the past few months of self-reflection. Certain situations have started to come into focus and suddenly you see with crystal clarity what is no longer serving you. There’s a lot you’ve been simply tolerating for a long time that doesn’t serve you. It’s time for a change and you’re up for considering ultra-unconventional situationships in love and work for (maybe) the first time ever. A weight is lifted at the Full Moon in your sign when you trust these instincts and start seeking out more opportunities to get closer to your goals. For example, you’re not going to find a new house if you aren’t looking for one. Open your eyes to the gifts around you. Sometimes gifts are kind of like a Doppler effect that you don’t notice until they’re zooming past you.
Aries (March 21-April 19)
You’re not in the energy to play nice this month, but in some twisted turn of fate, your self-preservation instincts are actually working for the collective in September. You’re open to growing a work project from its beginning stages and moving it forward into the future, even if it kills you to make it happen. If it’s not work, it’s something that *feels* like work this month. Even if you’re not sure you have what it takes, you’re not at all afraid of being the bad guy (maybe because you were literally born to be the bad guy): kicking ass and asking for what you need before you take it. Part of the reason for this sudden influx of confidence is you truly are just too busy to care. You’re an expert on something (even if you don’t think so) and people need you. Don’t lose track in your rush to set boundaries, say no, and generally crush the dreams of the unrealistic babies that surround you.
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
You feel out of your element and more or less confused this month. You’re normally a rock for others to rest on when they’ve lost their way, but you just don’t feel like yourself: your instincts are off. Although the New Moon hits you in your sector of home and family, there’s something rotten in your deepest associations and intimate connections. It’ll take you all month to figure out what it is, but not until after you’ve asked every question and plumbed through all the details. The likely culprit: you’ve changed and you no longer vibe with anything in your most personal sphere. This isn’t such a problem, but it does require a major dose of burning it all to the ground, which is hell for a security-loving sign such as yourself. The Full Moon in Pisces will offer you solace at mid-month—although all is not as it seems, you can trust yourself and that you know what you’re doing.
Gemini (May 21-June 20):
The world is your oyster and you’re kind of pissed about it in September. Whereas you typically adore having a bunch of plans and nothing definitely confirmed, you’re kinda aching for something you can believe in, focus on, and even just write in pen on your calendar this month. You’re frustrated with the parts of your life that have paradoxically been your most frustrating trait to others: flakiness and inconstancy. Your stability muscle is being flexed and your life is coming up short in the reliability department. No matter—you’re ready to carve the inroads into your dream life of normalcy, even if this is the first time you’re adulting in a while. Start small by adding one small routine that anchors your week and promise yourself you’ll follow it as far as it can take you. At the Full Moon, you’ll notice a major career change emerge that will make you grateful you focused your time on developing essential habits to get you through the busy season.
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
You really need a change this month. You’re looking for something that’s a little spicier and a lot different from what you’re accustomed to. The old standby isn’t cutting it anymore and you’ll find it’s awfully easy to get what you want when you demand it. The only issue is that sometimes you have a hard time differentiating between excitement and true desire. Either way, this feels good and the sensuality of indulging in it is worth your time and energy. You’re going off-type and that’s hot because it’s intriguing. It’s guaranteed to be gratifying even if you just want whatever is new for now. There’s a potential romantic shift on the books for you this month if you choose to accept it, and it’s up to you to decide how this plays out. You’re getting what you want but you are the only one who can know if what you want has lasting potential.
Leo (July 23-Aug 22)
It’s like they always say: it’s all fun and games until somebody gets hurt. And sometimes it’s you that gets caught in the crosshairs. Even if you think you’re the mediator everyone needs, know that meddling does not serve you. Everyone knows that you have skin in the game, and putting your two cents in can backfire. This is really just a cryptic way of saying that it’s a little delusional for you to think that your interference in whatever drama is penetrating your social or professional sphere will fix things. Just hang back and take a break. This isn’t your lesson to learn or your fight to have, and there are more important things for you to tend to this month. Stay grounded. The New Moon hits your 2nd house of finances and self-worth, and staying in your lane in September will ultimately give you more to work with.
