Are you ready for your next (or possibly first) tattoo? Whether you want something bright and bold or micro and minimalistic, there’s an artist for everyone. Take a look at the work by these six female tattoo artists who are making their mark in the Indy area.

Lenny Wood Floyd, @lennyresplendent

Lenny has been tattooing for eight years and has had her own shop in Greenwood for the past four. “I love to do floral and any custom pieces. Probably my most recent favorite would be on my buddy Dustin,” she says. “We did a portrait of his cat Murphy in General George Washington’s uniform. It was really fun; I love pet portraits!”

Nevada Buckley, @nevada_buckley

Nevada graduated from Herron School of Art and Design with a BFA in Printmaking in 2012 before becoming a tattoo artist. “I went into tattooing with a very specific style already and I was very lucky to have had so many people enjoy it from the get-go,” she told us. “My style is reminiscent of my printmaking past, with line work that reflects those in woodcut and etching.”

Kiersten Lockwood, @klockwoodtattoo

Kiersten wanted to be a tattoo artist since the age of 12 because she wanted to help people. “I don’t have a specific style I stick to at the moment,” she says. “So it’s given me the ability to be flexible with all different art projects, but eventually I would love to focus on surrealism black and grey and mixing styles together.”

Freehand Body Art, 729 N. Green St., Brownsburg

Annie Burkhard, @annieS_DESIGNS

If you take a look at Annie’s Instagram account (along with her design account, @annies_designs), you’ll find a mix of bold colors, pop culture (with King of the Hill being one of her favorites), and a mixture of mushrooms, moths, and swoon-worthy floral designs. Annie is booking into March for both pre-drawn designs and custom work.

Megan Zoeller, @meganzoeller_tattoo

A single mom to an 11-year-old son, Megan started tattooing in 2006 in Broad Ripple. She changed shops a few years ago to focus on American traditional tattooing. “I like doing color and black and grey tattoos, and I am always open to suggesting a different tattooer so the client can find the best fit for them.”
