Have you been wondering how you can support both the local community and the amazing women in it? One great way is to support these local women-owned businesses. Not only do they sell awesome products, the women behind them are pretty great, too. Of course, there are many amazing women-owned businesses in our community, but here are a few of our favorites.

Holder Mattress

Holder Mattress is a local mattress store with a great selection of mattresses, home decor, accessories like bed frames and linens, and more. Lauren McAshlan Taylor is the third-generation owner of Holder Mattress after her mother Linda Holder McAshlan and her father Tim McAshlan passed it down to her in 2005.

Just Pop In!

This cafe and popcorn shop located in Broad Ripple sells gourmet popcorn in tons of delicious flavors like sharp cheddar cheese and caramel nut crunch. Founded by twin sisters Mandy Selke and Carly Swift, this fun business has double the girl power for you to support.

Illinois Street Food Emporium is a delightful cafe located in Broad Ripple. Check out their delicious offerings like pies, pastries, homemade breads, and an all-day deli. Indianapolis native Vivian Farris has been the owner of Illinois Street Food Emporium since 2014.

Onatah General

Shopping at this woman-owned business has the added benefit of also supporting ethical sourcing and natural goods. At Onatah General you’ll find everything from accessories to toiletries. As a bonus, you can shop their “zero waste” section for products that are compostable, refillable, and reusable. Onatah General is owned by Jessie Eskew.

Wyliepalooza should be one of your first stops for sweet treats in the city. With fun flavors such as “exhausted parent,” “munchie madness,” and “espresso Oreo,” you’re sure to find one you like. Wyliepalooza is owned by mother daughter duo Patty and Cassie. The name of the shop was even inspired by Cassie’s daughter, Wylie.

Silver in the City

Silver in the City is an adorable shop where you’ll find plenty of hidden gems and fun jewelry. They also sell home goods and other fun items. Kristin Kohn is the owner and jewelry buyer at Silver in the City, and there are plenty of badass women in leadership positions for the shop as well.

Penn & Beech Candle Co.

Penn & Beech Candle Co. is a great place to buy one-of-a-kind candles that smell amazing, or if you’re feeling creative, you can even make your own. The company is owned by two sisters who started by hand-pouring candles out of their homes and founded a brick and mortar operation in 2018.

Boomerang BTQ

Boomerang Boutique is a women’s clothing boutique that features classic clothing pieces, accessories, and the popular T-shirt line Felicia Tees created by the owner, Felicia Kiesel. Kiesel started Boomerang Boutique in 2013 and made her dream of owning her own shop come true.
