A Letter from the Editor

We stand in solidarity with Black people. We know many in our community are hurting right now and join you in the fight for real, substantive change. We stand with you, we hear you, and we are here for you. Black. Lives. Matter.
Black Lives Matter woman protesting

Dear Mavens,

All of us at Indy Maven are saddened and outraged by the killings of Black people at the hands of police and the violent responses against protestors across the country and within our own community.

We stand in solidarity with Black people. We know many in our community are hurting right now and join you in the fight for real, substantive change. We stand with you, we hear you, and we are here for you. Black. Lives. Matter.

We are proud of the diverse women that make up our editorial board and help us shape the content that you read on a weekly basis. But we still have more work to do. We are a very small business, with no full-time employees. But as our team grows, we are committed to improving the diversity of the independent contractors with which we work and the voices represented on our website.

We will not be publishing our previously scheduled content this week in order to make space for other voices. We’ll resume our regular newsletter coverage next week.

In the meantime, please take a look at some of the stories and resources we’ve gathered for you below including people, businesses, and organizations you can support with time, money, or your voices. Not sure what to say? There are some suggestions for books to read and leaders to follow. We’ll continue to update these and encourage you to reach out with anything you want to make sure we see.

Have a story to tell? We’re listening. If you need support from Indy Maven and our community, how can we serve you better?

As always, you can reach me directly at leslie@indymaven.com or the team at editorial@indymaven.com to share.

Leslie
