Good Hair Day

We've got the scoop on Drybar's new location in downtown Indy.

The first time I went to Drybar, in 2011 in Manhattan, I asked for the messy, beachy “Mai Tai” blowout, but the stylist inexplicably went all “Southern Comfort,” and gave me big hair, like 1980s Dallas-meets-18th-century France hair. (Maybe it was my fault: I told her I was from the Midwest.) I frantically wet it down in the bathroom sink. Still, I was completely hooked on the experience: easy-to-book blowouts with fun, cocktail-inspired names, rom-coms on the TV, and champagne on the side, and was excited when Indy’s first Drybar opened in 2018, in the Shops at River Crossing.

Drybar IndianpolisNow, Drybar is bringing those good hair vibes Downtown—to the Bottleworks District on Mass Ave. “For shop number two, we really wanted to connect with our downtowners,” said Sasha Higgins, owner of both Indy locations. “I used to work downtown and dreamed of having Drybar access when I needed to freshen up my look.”

Higgins expects the new DryBar to open in September. The downtown shop will offer the same great experience and service as the northside location, which will celebrate its second anniversary over Memorial Day weekend, but will “no doubt have its own special look and feel,” Higgins said.

“We’re excited to add a few fun new features to this shop, so stay tuned!” she said.
