Indy Maven Celebrates World Emoji Day

It’s never been a secret that the Maven community is an expressive bunch. Here's how we celebrated Emoji Day.

It’s never been a secret that the Maven community is an expressive bunch, and Emoji Day (July 17) reminded us of how 🔥 our keyboards are. According to the World Emoji Awards (it’s a thing), the 🙂‍↔️ Head Shaking Horizontally emoji is the most popular new emoji for 2024, with the 🙂‍↕️ Head Shaking Vertically in second, and 🐦‍🔥 Phoenix in third. The 🍋‍🟩 Lime emoji came in 4th place, followed by the ⛓️‍💥 Broken Chain emoji in 5th.

From a Gen Z girlie’s perspective, it seems like Mavens have a lot of shared emotions. Shannon Cagle Dawson and Andi Robinson spread the love and find themselves clicking that heart emoji quite a lot while Stefani Arthur and Amy Woods find their thumbs hovering over the “oh god”’s, “oh no”’s, and “whyyyyy”’s of the emoticon world. Melissa Rowe and Leslie Bailey throw some curveballs our way with a rainbow and shrimp, and our lovely Karen Kennedy is dancing her way through texts.
