Skincare is so much more than the products that sit on your bathroom counter. It’s about how you care for your skin, too — and sometimes, that means giving it a little extra love.
Alternate View, a boutique eye care center and facial aesthetics provider based in Carmel, Indiana,, is taking a fresh approach to skincare with a selection of treatments designed to brighten, smooth and rejuvenate the skin while enhancing the features clients already have.
Known for bringing together eye care, eyewear and wellness under one roof, Alternate View has offerings that include facial aesthetics treatments that address everything from sun damage and pigmentation to skin firmness and texture.
We chatted with Liz Jourdan, NP, a board-certified Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and aesthetics provider at Alternate View. Jourdan has more than 15 years of nursing experience and a passion for helping women feel good about themselves at every stage of aging.
“I’m all in this area of helping, not just women, but people feel good with aging and the goal of aging naturally and enhancing natural beauty. Jourdan said.
A large reason Jourdan was first interested in aesthetics was when she was in her late 30s and early 40s, and wanted to start her own skincare journey.
“It made me feel so good and I feel really rewarded when I help others feel good, so I was like, “Oh! I can do this and get paid for it!” she said.
Jourdan gave us the 4-1-1 on all things facial aesthetics, aging and what treatments work best for specific skincare goals and textures. If there’s something you’d like to address or a way they can help you be more confident in your skin, chances are they’d like to help.
Not sure what’s the right treatment for you? Alternate View also does skincare consultations to map out what’s right for you.
RF Microneedling
Compared to traditional microneedling, RF microneedling combines tiny punctures in the skin with radiofrequency heat energy, allowing the treatment to reach deeper layers of the skin. Alternate View uses Morpheus8, a treatment designed to stimulate collagen production while helping tighten and firm the skin. RF microneedling can address the appearance of scars, pigmentation and signs of aging.
“That helps stimulate and build collagen,” said Jourdan. “I did one of those treatments earlier and I just love that you can really help firm and tighten your skin. A lot of our treatments are more medical-driven, so it’s not necessarily your relaxing facial med spa, but if you do want more of a relaxing procedure, we have the RF facial that’s really nice for tightening. I even do those to myself once a week and my skin is firmer, tighter, smoother. My products and makeup lay nicer with that one.”
After RF microneedling, clients can expect to see a slight redness to the skin for the first 24-48 hours. Clients who undergo RF microneedling might experience mild to moderate discomfort, but it’s largely pain-free.
Those who have used RF microneedling report tighter skin, smoother wrinkles, improved scars, minimized pores, and more even skin tone.
Photofacial (IPL)
For clients wanting to address sun damage, redness, pigmentation or age spots, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy can help give skin a more even appearance. It’s also an option for addressing melasma and freckles, which can become more noticeable after time in the sun.
Alternate View uses Lumecca, an IPL treatment designed to target pigmented and vascular lesions.
“I really like that after being in the sun all summer to help with any sun damage, sun spots,” Jourdan said.
An IPL photofacial uses pulses of broad-spectrum light to target areas of concern, including pigmentation and vascular issues. The treatment reaches deeper layers of the skin while minimizing impact to the surface.
Radiofrequency Facial (RF)
Another way Alternate View clients can target signs of aging is through its radiofrequency facial, specifically InMode Forma. Alternate View’s radiofrequency facial uses radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen production, making it an option for clients looking to improve skin firmness. The treatment itself is non-invasive and uses heat to help tighten the skin on the face, neck and body.
After the treatment, it’s common to have redness on the affected area for about 1-2 days. This facial best treats sagging skin, wrinkles, uneven texture, and scars.
Neurotoxins and Filler
One of the most common areas of concern that Alternate View treats is fine lines and wrinkles. Neurotoxins are one of the most common treatments used to address them.
“My favorite procedure for that would be Botox,” Jourdan said. “We also use Dysport, a neurotoxin to help prevent fine lines and wrinkles.”
Dysport can begin showing results within a few days and typically lasts several months, although individual results can vary.
Whether you’re looking to address a specific skincare concern or simply want to learn more about your options, a consultation can help you determine which treatment is right for you.
