September 2026 Overview

September always kind of feels like the Sunday of summer, doesn’t it? School’s back in session, vacation’s over, and nothing gold can stay. All summer long, we’ve been feeling righteous joy and rage, putting out fires (literally), and experiencing the particular brand of chaos that comes with eclipse season. Now that we’re past it, we can only hope for stillness.

We enter the new month in the midst of Virgo season. Before the equinox, smooth sailing comes, but only with methodical, well-planned execution. Things will get more exciting later in the month.

On the 10th, the New Moon in Virgo is more about filing systems than feelings. This New Moon is unglamorous, but practical, and you can use this energy to help set yourself up for whatever your “next big thing” is going to be. We’ve got to take out the trash and do the boring stuff before the real fun can begin.

When’s the last time you went to the doctor, had your teeth cleaned, deep cleaned your freezer?  Restart the habits you quietly dropped in June when warm weather brought its sense of freedom. Virgo doesn’t care about your grand gestures. It only cares whether the thing actually works.

Also on the 10th, Venus moves into Scorpio, Mercury moves into Libra, and Uranus begins its retrograde in Gemini. Venus in Scorpio craves depth and intensity. You might feel the urge to challenge the status quo, or initiate the challenging conversation you’ve been avoiding. Right now, diving into that discomfort is much more rewarding than reaching for the polite answer.

At the same time, Mercury in Libra just wants to go with the flow and keep everything chill. So while internally, you might feel motivated to confront any issues, externally, you just want to keep the peace. An internal battle could consume you over the next couple weeks. You find yourself wanting to let a skeleton out of the closet, but reaching for tact, instead.

On the 22nd, the sun passes over the earth’s equator for the autumnal equinox. This is the one day of the year when light and dark match. The Sun moves into Libra, and for about 24 hours, we are balanced. This is a fleeting feeling for a brief moment. The urge to keep the peace persists, while at the same time, prioritizing personal autonomy becomes a requirement. You don’t have to be passive or complacent to make everyone happy. Consider how you might strike the perfect balance between your needs and everyone else’s desires.

The Full Moon in Aries lands directly opposite the Libra Sun on the 26th. The buck stops here: any compromises you’ve been making that prioritize someone else’s agenda end with this Full Moon. You aren’t an NPC. You’re the protagonist of your life. Diplomacy and restraint only stretch so far, and at the end of the month, it will feel like no matter what you do, you can’t just go with the flow and float through life. Say what you mean.

IMPORTANT DATES THIS MONTH

September 10 – Venus enters Scorpio, Mercury enters Libra, Uranus retrograde in Gemini, New Moon in Virgo
Shoot your shot–depth and intensity meet social charm, creating the kind of energy that can win over anyone. At the same time, challenge the status quo. It’s no longer acceptable to follow convention just because that’s the way things have always been done. It’s not you, and you are not being difficult–the system is being pushed to change because it’s broken. Don’t get so wrapped up in everything that you forget yourself.

September 17 – Chiron retrograde re-enters Aries
Chiron shifts back to Aries for the last time. Deeply buried ego wounds can be resurfaced here. Look for ways to indulge in pleasures you were previously denied.

September 22 – Sun enters Libra, Autumnal Equinox
For a moment, things are perfectly balanced. Charm comes easily and so does making peace. Just be sure not to compromise so much that you forget yourself.

September 26 – Full Moon in Aries
Following your intuition is an awesome way to step into your power.

September 27 – Mars enters Leo
Passion projects, pleasure seeking, and personal aspirations are the focus.

September 30 – Mercury enters Scorpio
Listen to your gut and don’t doubt yourself.

Birthday Royalty <3 Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

You tend to do the unglamorous, unnoticed maintenance that the rest of us depend on and rarely notice. You don’t always need that recognition, but it’s nice to get. This year, the New Moon lands in your sign days before your season ends. Don’t waste this energy worrying about whether your effort is seen–that’s not why you’re doing it. The New Moon lands directly in your sign on the 10th, days before your solar return closes. Don’t waste it on self-improvement guilt.

Tarotscope | Ace of Wands: This month brings a golden opportunity to get reinspired.

NOW FOR THE REST OF YOU...

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

On the 22nd, the Sun moves into your sign, joining Mercury, so your words are especially charmed and eloquent. For you, this is one of the strongest times of the year for communication. Speak up for yourself, and don’t let smooth equal silent when it comes to what actually matters to you.

Tarotscope | Queen of Swords: Speaking your truth takes precedence over protecting emotions.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

Venus enters your sign where it’ll stay until it retrogrades, beginning a long stretch of magnetism. People will feel your intensity, even when you say nothing at all. You will attract the right connections this month.

Tarotscope | The High Priestess: Everyone knows there’s something special about you.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

Log off. You are in need of a major rest. This month’s Virgo New Moon is likely to make you feel inclined to overcommit to plans you don’t really want to keep and situations you actually don’t want to be in. What if you just under-booked yourself on purpose, as a treat?

Tarotscope | Four of Swords: Rest isn’t a reward. It’s an absolute requirement.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

Your community is your focus this month, as Libra season lights up the part of your chart that controls friendships and community ties. Who actually shows up for you? Take notice, and stop prioritizing people who make you work for it.

Tarotscope | Ten of Wands: You’re not responsible for holding everything.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

Your professional instincts are sharpened by Mercury’s transition into Libra. This couldn’t be manufactured, and it’s happening at exactly the right time. You know exactly who, how, and when to ask. The pitch comes easily.

Tarotscope | King of Pentacles: You know more than you’re giving yourself credit for.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

You’ll be questioning things on a deeper level as Chiron re-enters Aries on the 17th–your beliefs about meaning, direction, and what you’re here to accomplish. So don’t hesitate if an old doubt resurfaces. This time, you can let it finish its business.

Tarotscope | Seven of Cups: You have options, but not every option deserves serious consideration.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

Everyone else stays ready to debate, and you’re keeping your opinions to yourself. The Full Moon on the 26th lands in your sign and suddenly patience is nonexistent. Good. You were not built for endless compromise.

Tarotscope | Two of Wands: You’ve already decided. Stop reviewing it and take the next step.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

This month you’re confronted with uncomfortable but necessary questions: what do you hold onto or continue doing simply out of comfort rather than actual value? Are you refusing change because it just seems easier that way? News flash: it isn’t.

Tarotscope | Six of Pentacles: Something needs to change hands. Whether it’s energy, money, love, attention, etc., let it shift.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

This month, you are only meant to process the changes you’ve already made. Since you’ve already been shifting, you don’t need to make more big moves. As Uranus stations retrograde in your sign on the 10th, you just need to review.

Tarotscope | The Hanged Man: It’s so boring when things are at a standstill. But stay there a little longer and see what happens.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

What does it look like when you choose to settle into balance and acceptance, once the door is closed behind you? You’re not under scrutiny, so you don’t need to continue any performance. You might question your purpose, but it’s not because anything is wrong.

Tarotscope | Justice: When it’s right, it will feel right. If you’re not sure, you don’t have to decide.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

You’re quietly accomplishing things, checking things off your list, and moving right along without fanfare. What a relief. You don’t need to be under a microscope while the boring stuff happens behind the scenes. Late this month, Mars enters your sign like a light switching back on.

Tarotscope | Strength: You don’t need an audience to know it’s real. You’re acting like you’re starring in a reboot of The Truman Show, and maybe that’s not a bad thing.
