Is there anything more miserable than your air conditioner not working in the middle of a hot summer day in Indiana? We don’t think so.
(Okay, there are worse things but it sucks).
To prevent that from happening to you, Indy Maven teamed up with Homesense to learn what we should be doing for our air conditioners.
Ohhhhh adulting.
If you take nothing else away from this, remember, the key to keeping your home cool is ventilation. And to achieve good ventilation there are a few things you should be doing.
For the outdoor air conditioning unit, you should keep the area around it clean to improve airflow.
For the indoor unit, you should consistently change the air filter to prevent it from getting clogged. If you’ve ever seen a really dirty filter, you know why. ::gag::
You should also be aware of your thermostat and whether it is set to “auto” or “on” and the pros and cons of each setting. We’re not just going to give that riveting info away though…watch the video to find out which is best!
How fun was that? Now that you’re on a roll, be sure to check out our Sh*t You Should Know content on plumbing with Hope Plumbing and car maintenance with Jiffy Lube too!
