We asked, if you had an extra hour in your day, what would you do with it?

Here’s how our Mavens answered.
Extra hour in day feature

At 2 a.m. local time on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024, we will “fall back” for daylight saving time, where the clocks will remain until we “spring forward” again in March 2025.

Yes, we’ll get an hour of sleep. We’ll also have kids melting down, appointments missed, and discombobulated pets. But still, it got us thinking: How great would it be to have an extra hour in the day? We asked our community what they’d do with one.

Here’s what they said.

Read for pleasure. And reach out to friends. – Bev Rella

I would use it on self-care and recharging from the day. Whether doing a facemask while reading or going on a walk! – Lilly Harper

Sleep! – Jan Mitchell

I’d dedicate it to personal reflection and creativity. That hour would become a safe space for me to pause, assess my goals, journal, and engage in creative ways to build my organization by providing more opportunities for our girls. – La Tonya Brown

Invite a girlfriend to sit outside, sip coffee, and chat about life. – Jennifer Chapman

I’d probably spend that hour at a bookstore or trying to cook/bake a new recipe. – Kat Nick

Learn a foreign language – either French or Spanish.  – Despi Mayes

Write thank you notes and take a walk outside. – Carrie Dragoo Tidwell

I would sit in silence and drink hot coffee while watching the news. Mom life makes the hot coffee part very hard! – Amanda Coleman

I would commit to doing my Rosetta Stone Spanish lessons daily for 30 minutes and spending the other 30 minutes putting away my clean laundry that is perpetually stacked on the floor of my closet. – Rachel Hickey

An extra hour of sleep, please. I’m at my best when I’m well-rested. – Deborah Macke

Kelsey Cook

Call family and friends to catch up. Too many missed calls and texts, and not enough time to dig deep with those most important to me. – Kelsey Cook

I would do my Duolingo spanish lesson and read….and maybe slowly start to declutter. – Stefani Arthur

Something active with friends—outside if the weather is nice. – Karen Young

Sleep, of course. – Courtney Hall

Sleep! – Elizabeth Friedland

I would pick up some kind of creative hobby – I currently have my eye on some beginner embroidery kits. – Leslie Bailey

Talk to people and tell them they were created for a purpose and are loved.  – Beth Rovazzini

I would honestly say today, more sleep…but I have been up since 3am. 😩 On a normal day, I would want the hour for self-care (exercise, meditation, spa). – Taja Graham
