Rebecca Zink, the owner of Zink Metals, is a maker of what she describes as “modern industrial glam jewelry. In her work, she uses the properties of different metals to create exciting and unique pieces. Her jewelry displays her love for combining the industrial feel of steel with the preciousness of silver. Zink says she is heavily inspired by her time in graduate school at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where she studied metalsmithing and blacksmithing. Over to you, Rebecca!

My Maven Superpower is … Problem solving. Jewelry making involves a lot of problem solving.

A fun fact about me is … I also play ice hockey.

The skill I most want to learn is … I’d love to make leather or faux leather purses and create fun metal clasps for them.

My first job was … Working in the concession stand at an ice rink.

Self-care habit I swear by is … Yoga and meditation. They help me keep my head clear so I can focus, because most of the time my mind is all over the place.

My favorite non-profit to support is … Orphan Kitten Club or any nonprofit that supports animals.

The best career advice I can offer is … Always keep learning. The more you learn, the better you can be.

A purchase I’ve been loving lately isMy Aerogardens. I have four of them at home where I grow different lettuces, bok choy, and peppers. I like to have stuff available to cook and eat if I don’t want to go to the store. I’d like to grow an outdoor vegetable garden someday, but right now these will suffice. I also have two in my studio where I grow a few varieties of flowers.

I feel most confident when … I’ve completed a fun and interesting jewelry piece.

My favorite local restaurant dish is … I recently had the bucatini at Trader’s Point Creamery and I can’t stop thinking about it.

The thing I’ve been binging lately is … Desperate Housewives.I like to have a tv show that I’ve seen before playing in the background while I’m working at my studio.

A Maven you should know is … I don’t know a ton of Mavens right now, but Faith Blackwell is always someone to know.

What’s next for me is … Hopefully, a lot more jewelry and an expansion into different color golds and other metals. You can sign up for my newsletter on my website (Zinkmetals.com) to stay up to date on my upcoming holiday launch in November.
