2022 HOME DESIGN TREND: BOLD, EMBROIDERED FABRICS

KATIE KELLY, OWNER OF THE TRADE RESOURCE
THETRADERESOURCE.COM, @THETRADERESOURCE

“A big fall design trend that we are seeing is colorful embroidered fabrics with bold designs. Maximalism and color are making a major comeback! These patterns can be used in a variety of ways; window treatments, pillows, and ‘light’ upholstery. Some of my personal favorites are from Lee Jofa/Kravet, Stroheim, and Stout. We get new fabrics like these every day!”

2022 HOME DESIGN TREND: LAYERED WINDOW TREATMENTS

ERIKA REIMER, SENIOR DESIGNER AT DRAPERY STREET
DRAPERYSTREET.COM, @DRAPERYSTREET

“Fall is all about layers and that includes how you dress your windows. Layering window treatments add dimension and texture, creating a warm and cozy environment perfect for upcoming gatherings with friends and family. Adding layers also boosts functionality — giving you even more light control, energy efficiency, and privacy, which are especially important as the days get shorter.”

2022 HOME DESIGN TREND: COMFORTABLE, RELAXED BEAUTY

JULIE O’BRIEN, PRINCIPAL DESIGNER AND OWNER OF JULIE O’BRIEN DESIGN GROUP
JULIEOBRIENDESIGN.COM, @JULIE_OBRIEN_DESIGN_GROUP

“The home trend I see for the coming year is a move away from the gray and white interiors that have dominated spaces in the recent past, particularly for the DIY market. Interiors are becoming warmer, cozier, and more about comfort. Because so many people are needing to work with the cool neutrals that they already have, the most forward-thinking interiors use that color base and add warm woods or splashes of vivid color in small details, soft beachy or earthy pastel colors, or even a combination of softer hues with brights in small doses. Comfortable, relaxed beauty that invites us in is the main trend soon to reign over the gray and white world we’ve grown accustomed to.”

2022 HOME DESIGN TREND: TAKING THE INDOORS OUTSIDE

KARA KAVENSKY, MARKETING DIRECTOR FOR ADAM GIBSON DESIGN
ADAMGIBSONDESIGN.COM, @ADAMGIBSONDESIGN

“Blurring the line between indoors and outdoors remains on trend. Outdoor living spaces equipped with cozy fireplaces, outdoor heaters, or fire pits give us the ability to keep entertaining outdoors. Winter months are inevitable, but we design to capitalize on every good-weather opportunity year-round.”

2022 HOME DESIGN TREND: ADDING COLOR

LAUREN TAYLOR, PRESIDENT OF HOLDER MATTRESS CO., INC.
HOLDERMATTRESS.COM, @HOLDERMATTRESS

“Collaboration is key at the Indiana Design Center. We partnered with our friends Rusted Window and traveled to market together this summer. One of the trends we really loved was the use of color. We saw a lot of light blue, navy, laurel green, and terra cotta working together. The terra cotta feels very end of summer/early fall and the green and blues can easily transition through to winter. Utilizing colors in your space can allow you to seamlessly flow from one season to the next with minimal effort.”

2022 HOME DESIGN TREND: NATURALS AND WARM EARTH TONES

JACKIE JENKINS, SENIOR DESIGNER AT EVERYTHING HOME
EVERYTHINGHOMEDESIGNS.COM, @EVERYTHINGHOMEDESIGNS

“Going into Fall 2022, we are forecasting and already starting to see a shift in design styles and trends, moving out of the bright bold and pastel color palettes into calming naturals and warm earth tones. Monochromatic shades will continue to be the foundation of the overall design in hues of whites, chocolates, and camel colors. We predict layering in textures and unique standalone accents dressed in blues and rich greens will balance a space and allow for flexible design. Regarding furniture, we see lighter coastal upholstery trending with a mix of vintage case good accents adding a bit of character to any space.”
