Downtown dweller and owner of the beloved 4 Birds Bakery, Jenna Unrue, is a master of the food industry. When she isn’t busy whipping up everyone’s favorite baked treats, she loves spending time with her husband, Steven, daughter, Juniper, and adorable pup, Miso. Over to you, Jenna!

My Maven Superpower is… My ability to find space when someone says “there isn’t any more room”. I loved Tetris as a kid and it taught me how to make the most of the space available!

Self-care habits I swear by… Taking some time throughout each day to stretch. I am on my feet almost all day and work a lot with my hands. Stretching leaves me feeling refreshed and helps relieve tension that builds up. (Plus it’s free and doesn’t take up too much time!)

My first job was… Working at a pizza place in my hometown (Zionsville) called Amore.

The best career advice I can offer isDo what you love. Many of us spend more time at work than we do anywhere else. Why would you want to look back on your life and realize that you spent most of it doing something you didn’t enjoy?

My favorite local restaurant dish is… I have too many! Dan Dan from Lil Dumplings, Coconut/Passion Fruit Ribbon from Amelias, Strange Birds Ramen (blend the Tantanmen and the Ebi shio for the best version), just about anything that La Margarita makes, Raspberry Goat Cheese Brioche from Leviathan. I’ll let Nina from Asaka make me whatever she wants!

A purchase I’ve been loving lately is… A percussion massage gun. I love to get massages and do not always have time for them and this is the perfect quick fix.

The skill I most want to learn is… Italian! I have had Rosetta Stone since high school and have tried to learn it many times.  It’s hard to keep up with it and you definitely need someone to practice it with.

A Maven you should know isThere are so many great women. Nina from Asaka, Geldar from Samosa n Sauce, Jaime from 8th Day, Kelsey from Second Sister Photography…I could literally send a list!

The thing I’ve been binging lately is… Dublin Mudslide ice cream from Ben and Jerry’s. They discontinued it years ago and recently brought it back. I am making up for lost time.

Success looks like… For me, it is about finding the balance of work/personal life. Setting myself up so that I can go on field trips with my kids or take the day off to randomly spend one on one time with them. I also want to create a work environment where this is possible for those who are on my team. I haven’t found the perfect solution for all of that yet, and I plan to keep working on it until I do!
