Listen up ladies, it’s time to celebrate the achievements of women on March 8. International Women’s Day is a global day to commemorate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women—while raising awareness about discrimination, bias, and stereotypes. These six Indianapolis businesses and organizations are offering the Indy community events to come together and celebrate everything, we, as women, have accomplished!
1. WE THRIVE AT THE VOGUE
The women of Rise & Thrive season four – a seven-month opportunity for seven achieving women to build their businesses and community – come together to share their stories in a “TED-like” talk with a table discussion included. Celebrate with Stand Tall in Your Story at The Vogue on March 8, 6-9:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online and all sales are final. This event is open to both women and men, however, The Vogue is a 21+ venue, but it can be live-streamed for those wanting to attend no matter the age!
2. YOGASIX FREE YOGA CLASSES
YogaSix Indianapolis is offering free classes the week of March 6 in honor of International Women’s Day. This studio offers a “faster-paced, fun, and challenging Vinyasa yoga class to develop strength, focus, and flexibility.” You can sign up online or in person.
3. PASS THE TORCH FOR WOMEN
This first-of-its-kind collaborative series with Pass the Torch for Women Foundation and athLEDA Foundation present an event filled with live music, guest speakers, and local woman-owned vendors. These organizations will host a reception on March 6 at Maven Space at 6:00 p.m. to kick off International Women’s Day. On March 8, a special breakfast event will be presented at the Indianapolis Artsgarden, however, tickets are sold out but the event will be live-streamed and tickets can be purchased. Tickets can be purchased online.
4. INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY MIXER
Gentlemen Jack and the Botanical Bar are hosting a free cocktail mixer on March 8 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Maven Space. Join them to enjoy custom cocktails, food, and music while networking with local influential women. This event is free and open to the public but make sure to reserve a spot to claim a complimentary gift bag which includes a plant from the Botanical Bar and treats from Gentleman Jack.
5. INDIANA COMMISSION FOR WOMEN
Join the Indiana Commission for Women on March 8 to celebrate International Women’s Day. This event from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. is a four-part panel on how women can LIFT, LEARN, LEAD, and, LEAP at the Indiana Government South Building. Influential and accomplished women from all over Indianapolis come together to speak on their experiences to share with other women. This event is free and open to the public but limited to 350 people, so reserve a spot online.
6. INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY AT MAVEN SPACE
Looking to get some work done before cocktail hour? Come down to Maven Space and celebrate International Women’s Day all day. Get some work done at the space from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. while enjoying lunch at the Maven Cafe by Fork & Function. Then after you have accomplished the day away enjoy a drink or two!
