October 2024 Overview

Very unpopular and controversial opinion: you should just do whatever you want whenever you want.

If you tune in to some of the most popular astrologers, you’ll notice lots of fear-mongering astrology. Some will act like eclipse season is all doom and gloom, as they warn against manifesting during these periods as if it’s a life-or-death decision.

I tend to agree that it’s not the best time for setting intentions because of how unpredictable the energy of eclipses can be…but I know this one thing to be absolutely true: magic is one hundred percent about intention. Another thing I know is that living in the world is complicated, and things are generally pretty unpredictable.

We’re dealing with so many variables, and energy is constantly changing, so while I believe in exercising caution during eclipse season, I definitely do not think anybody will lose it all just because they decided to practice a little magic.

In case you missed it, we’re smack dab in the middle of Libra season and coming out of our yearly round of fall-time eclipses. Eclipses can bring about transformative change or stir up latent emotions. Ultimately, when the moon and sun pass over each other, information is revealed to show us what in our lives needs a reset or reform, and if something is meant to end, you’ll know it.

This month, the power and potential for significant change are at their peak for the year as the spotlight shines on relationships, connections, commitments, and interactions.

Right from the jump, this month is poised and charged with the ability to be life-changing, starting with the New Moon Solar Eclipse on the 2nd. For some of us, chance encounters could change the trajectory of our lives when we meet the right people, in the right place, at the right time. On the flip side, some are closing a significant chapter.

Throughout this month, pay attention to how the things you want have evolved from what you used to want. You might realize that your life is so dramatically different than you anticipated. Venus moves through Scorpio throughout the month, inspiring us to all act with a more direct communication style and perspective on resources.

Meanwhile, Mars is still in sensitive Cancer, which could make us all feel a little moodier but bolder when it comes to exposing our heart’s deepest desires. This combination makes us feel softer toward what we want while also feeling the urge to protect it.

So this month, we will all likely be more accepting and courageous of ourselves. Things are likely to feel dramatic and emotionally charged throughout October, and not just because it’s spooky season. It’s more that ascension requires us to drop our old habits and leave the past behind us.

By the end of the month, you may find that you’ve achieved something you weren’t expecting. You may have a new, elevated status or leave a stagnant relationship. Maybe you’re in an entirely different place than you started, and it starts out feeling like a setback. Soon, you’ll recognize that your loss was necessary for your growth. You couldn’t have ever gotten where you’re going from where you were before.

Important dates this month:

  • October 2: Libra Solar South Node Eclipse
    • This Solar Eclipse occurs near the South Node of the moon, inspiring a release of limiting beliefs or relationships that make you feel small.
    • Be wary of unnecessary arguments or drama. We’re all struggling to reclaim stable footing and balance. If you have to fight for it, that’s revealing what needs to be released.
    • Stay strong and true to yourself. Prioritize your little rituals that help you feel taken care of. Take risks that pull you like magnets.
  • October 4: Venus in Scorpio trine Saturn in Pisces
    • The lucky ones could make cosmic connections today and have fated meetings. Believe in magic today.
    • The perfect outcome is deeply possible.
    • The ordinary can become extraordinary if you’re open to it.
  • October 6: Mercury in Libra square Mars in Cancer
    • Things feel like they’re moving too fast, which causes you to pump the breaks and dig in your heels.
    • Don’t jump to conclusions and don’t expect the worst out of people. This will pass, and the potential for misspeaking or causing unnecessary drama is heightened.
  • October 8: Venus in Scorpio trine Mars in Cancer
    • Put yourself out there. Take a chance on love. Tell your crush.
  • October 9: Jupiter goes retrograde
    • From now through February 4, 2025, Jupiter will appear to move backward in Gemini.
    • The potential for personal growth spurts is high. Take this time to look inward.
  • October 11: Pluto goes direct in Capricorn
    • After a long retrograde, Pluto makes its last appearance in Capricorn before finally settling in Aquarius until 2044.
    • Big-ass revolutionary changes are happening around our society’s basic structures. Justice, the government, the rules, and law and order–these are changing before our very eyes.
  • October 17: Aries Full Moon, close of eclipse season
    • Don’t rush into new things today. Things feel uncertain and we’re on edge. We all feel reactive, which could cause the urge to make rash decisions without slowing down enough to consider how we’ll feel after.
  • October 22: Sun enters Scorpio

BIRTHDAY ROYALTY <3 Libra (September 23 – October 22):

This month brings you some major clarity–the kind that you’ve been hoping for for months! You are on a roll, and as far as your career is concerned, Mars in Cancer is giving you a major boost. This doesn’t mean you should be reckless, though, and you may need to find balance for your champagne taste… which is hardest for you especially now, at the pinnacle of your season. We love a good spooky season makeover montage. We love a comeback. We love a redemption arc. This month’s early Libra South Node Solar Eclipse makes October an especially good time for indulging your dark side. Now just might be the perfect time for a new side of you to make their public debut.

Tarotscopes | Death: The Death card on your birthday month? No problem. You’re just sharpening your shears and shedding old layers. (Those old layers do not have to include bangs you cut yourself in the bathroom mirror with craft scissors).

Famous Libra: Lil Wayne 9/27

NOW FOR THE REST OF YOU...

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21):

You literally have no chill this month and you are absolutely determined to have a good time. You’re going after everything you want, and some of the things that you want are maybe not so great for you. You don’t care though; you’ll stop at nothing. I personally have no issue with this, but it’s possible you step on some toes or may put your foot in your mouth. Be careful what you wish for, too, because while there’s no limit to what you can achieve, you could hurt people along the way. Don’t forget the hands that might need to help you when you have to come back down.

Tarotscopes | The Fool: Nothing is stopping you. This is a blessing and a curse.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21):

Time feels like it’s slowing down for you this month. Nothing is urgent and there is nowhere you need to be. You’re just coasting this month as your ruling planet, Jupiter, retrogrades, granting you the gift of inner peace, healing, and zen vibes. You’re not usually the mellow person in the room, but this month is slow-moving for you. You are likely to feel way calmer than usual, as you recognize that there are lots of opportunities for you to perform little self-care rituals.

Tarotscopes | 3 of Cups: The best word for your vibe this month is “basking.” I advise you to act like a cat and invite your friends over for a chill night in.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19):

Introspection is providing you with lots of welcome inspiration. Usually, slowness feels like stagnancy for you, but most of the time, stillness requires us to be slow, and the best ideas can come from stillness. As the month begins, you feel the urge to rest and reflect. Don’t fight it! Later this month, you will be rewarded with multiple boosts when Venus, Mercury, and Mars conspire. Soon, you’ll be firing on all cylinders, all gas no brakes, and you’ll have your downtime to thank for the blessings you’re heading toward.

Tarotscopes | 8 of Pentacles: Perfection takes time, my dude.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18):

Don’t freak out if you feel like you’re the spurned character in a novel written in the 1800s by one of the Bronte sisters. It won’t last. And anyway, love is either not your priority or not something you currently worry about…or it’s something you pine for, obsess over, or desperately seek. Love can smell desperation, and you are not accustomed to pining. Rest easy knowing that words flow effortlessly for you this month and communication is effortless. You are creatively blessed this month. You’re no tortured soul, but sometimes art gets a little better with torture.

Tarotscopes | The Hermit: Reading, writing, and reflection will provide you with the nourishment you seek. This is a solitary journey–you can’t get this from another person.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20):

You are so motivated in the pursuit of your desires this month that others can be inspired by it. You are likely to feel like it’s time for an overhaul. Mostly you just need to organize your thoughts, come up with a plan, and set out on a path–the key is to pick one. You want what you want, and there are lots of ways you could go about getting it. Your job this month is to figure out how you’re going to do it, and then start laying bricks. Achievement is pretty effortless for you this month if only you take a step.

Tarotscopes | The Magician: Everything you need is at your fingertips. You are the master of your reality.

Aries (March 21 – April 19):

It might feel like something is missing or the vibe is wrong. Your emotions betray you and you can’t quite seem to get ahold of yourself. It feels like things are piling up and you’re overwhelmed, but you can look forward to feeling accomplished as we move deeper into the month. This phase will not last, because you refuse to be overcome or taken down. You can be relentless in your pursuit of your dreams, and even when you feel negative or held back from what you want, you know that you are too big to fail.

Tarotscopes | Ace of Wands: You have a passion and determination that drives you, even when you lose your way.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20):

Boundaries! You’ve been setting them all year and this month you’ll need to keep at it. Your well-being is the number one most important thing in your life. Nobody can do you like you can and nobody can take care of you like you can. Find time to rest and reflect this month–the lessons you’ve learned from this year’s challenges have given you the exact right information and tools you will need to take charge of any situation that’s pushed you off your path. Things just need a little recalibration and you’ve got everything you need to be in charge of your own life.

Tarotscopes | The Emperor: You are incredibly strong, resilient, and courageous. You deserve to take the thronhe.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20):

Your inner child called. They wanted me to tell you to play. Whatever makes your life feel lighthearted and fun should be prioritized—if not always, then at least for this month, imo. Find ways to keep yourself balanced between work and play. Your life is supposed to be fun! The point of learning all those difficult lessons and breaking all those old ties was to free up space in your life for feeling good. Be yourself, especially when that means indulging in sillness or finding joy in simple things.

Tarotscopes | The Sun: Sometimes it takes a storm to reveal the light. Now that the storm is over, choose happiness.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22):

You are seeking stability and this month is about tending to your roots. This might mean you’re putting down new ones or you’re strengthening and nurturing your existing roots. This could require you to get your hands dirty and search for the wound so that you can heal it. Either way, this can be a challenge but I would be willing to bet that you are way stronger than you know. It wouldn’t surprise me if you learn that the safe and nurturing space you desire is already thriving within you.

Tarotscopes | Queen of Cups: Lead with your heart and let yourself feel it all.

Leo (July 23 – August 22):

Speaking your mind and sharing your thoughts and feelings should be a top priority this month. If you’ve been avoiding confrontation or biting your tongue, it’s time to strategically put yourself in situations that would allow you to express yourself. This October is gifting you eloquence and opening up opportunities to speak your truth, especially if you’ve suppressed it for the past few months. Be sure your actions are aligned with your inner beliefs.

Tarotscopes | Knight of Swords: You can stand in your power and express what you feel and believe without pushing people away or hurting them.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22):

Have you been so busy building and grinding that you’re forgetting what truly matters to you? It’s easy to lose sight of your strongest values when you’re focused on finances. This is particularly true if you’ve had issues financially or if you struggle with abundance. It’s a good idea this month to consider whether what you’ve been working toward is still fulfilling. If you’re busting ass just to stack dollar bills, ask yourself why. What’s your relationship with security and stability? If your work only serves you financially, it could be time to think about moving on. Money isn’t the most important thing and only you can decide its value for you.

Tarotscopes | 4 of Pentacles: Why are you working so hard? What are you working toward?
