Spring is right around the corner, and this year we thought it would be fun to have some ultra-stylish women that we admire share what they’re excited about wearing from local boutiques—instead of telling you what trends are hot off the runways (big surprise: florals are in again). Whether you feel like splurging on a new item to refresh your wardrobe or just enjoy viewing pretty fashion finds as inspiration, here’s what seven fabulous Indianapolis-area ladies will be wearing this season.

The look that I have been loving for spring is a great sweater and skirt combination—like this sage pom knit top ($44) and floral-print tiered mini skirt ($32) paired with beige textured block heeled sandals ($49). It’s a great way to transition from one season to the next, while still utilizing items you currently have in your closet. Pastels and florals are also a favorite of mine this spring.

Jodie Bailey Hats is a jewel box of a specialty boutique at 40th and Meridian Street. Currently operated by appointment only, visitors will get a safe and sanitary visit, and also one-on-one attention from the proprietor and milliner in residence, who personally creates every chapeau she sells. The shop has a variety of ready-made pieces for purchase, like this lightweight cotton houndstooth pattern beret accented with silver studs ($75). I’m looking forward to sporting the jaunty piece in the month of May as a slightly more stylish understated twist on the ubiquitous black-and-white check pattern found throughout the city in celebration of the Indy 500. Jodie also specializes in custom pieces, and I’m currently working with her to create a fun piece using fabric from the lining of a vintage Burberry check overcoat that’s been stuffed in the back of my closet, neglected and unworn, for years. Whether you’re looking for an everyday fedora or the perfect one-of-a-kind Kentucky Derby hat to perfectly coordinate with your dress, Jodie can help you get hatted!

I love ornate, detailed chains and gold is typically my go-to choice! I love the layered accessory look. It really adds a touch of luxe style to your outfit. I will be wearing this necklace with chic bodysuits and feminine blouses. I got this set from ZURRI Boutique, a boutique local to Indianapolis that specializes in luxe accessories and basics.

I love a jumpsuit, and this khaki number by Rivet Utility ($350) from 8Fifteen Boutique fits the bill as a perfect, versatile piece for spring. It’s classic, fresh, and modern and fits like a dream. Wear with a white sneaker for daytime and then for nighttime, simply change into a black or colorful stiletto, a pair of fabulous gold earrings or a statement ring and a black blazer. The khaki color is extremely versatile and offers a nice foundation for colorful accessories … but, if you’re like me, the best and most simple accessory for any fabulous new purchase is a perfect pair of sunnies.
MARIA DE LEON, COLLEGE STUDENT, LEADER AND ACTIVIST
As I begin to add new spring clothes to my closet, I look forward to wearing the Blue Floral Ruffle Blouse ($34) and Ginger Floral Peplum Blouse ($34) from Boomerang Boutique that I can pair with skinny jeans; my perfect ideal outfit for an outdoor brunch. Boomerang Boutique always has the best selection when you wish to wear soft, loose and flowy clothes.
ANDREA WIGGINS, READING INTERVENTIONIST
A good pair of denim cut-offs is always a good investment in my book, so this season
I’m thinking of splurging on these starred shorts from DL1961 ($139) that I spotted recently at 14 Districts in Carmel. I think they’d look terrific with everything from casual tanks and tees, to a crisp white button-down and sandals.

What I am seeing as a trend for spring, and also wearing personally, is a layered necklace look with a mix of chains and monogrammed pieces. You can experiment with the necklaces in your jewelry box to wear them in a fun new way.
