June 2023 OVERVIEW
Brace yourself for cosmic adventures! June promises to be a magical month with lots of surprises, fun and opportunities for growth.
To start the month, Mercury in Taurus, our planet of communication and intellect, takes center stage, making a conjunction with Uranus in Taurus on the 4th. This could be a day filled to the brim with inspiration and action on new ideas, but on the heels of a Full Moon in Sagittarius the day before, be sure not to overdo it.
Personally, I’m a big fan of overindulgence… but in moderation. Moderate extremism, if you will. If you’ve been reading this column for a while, then you know we at Spellsisters are prone to bouts of Party Rage Fever™. If you’re new here, that basically just means we’re feral and need to have fun immediately. On the 11th, when Mercury moves into vibrant Gemini, it’s PRF™ time.
Our collective capacity for curiosity and mental agility will be heightened, and you will likely feel inspired to check out new places, seek opportunities to network and engage in interesting debates and conversations. Let your freak flag fly and express yourself, so long as you’ve got it in you to be attentive and listen to others. Pay attention to new ideas that strike you around this time! They just might have legs.
On the 5th, right on the heels of this synchronous aspect, Venus enters Leo, where it’ll stay for an unusually long period of time–until October! There is a big shift in the air, so be ready for this summer to be extremely summering. The vibe is feature film, and you’re starring. In other words, none of us are shooting Best Supporting Actress. We’re extremely in our Main Character Era.
I have some advice for this long period of Venus in Leo. Do: cultivate your boss energy, get comfortable with standing in your power, express your style confidently, flirt with the universe, and start a new relationship with someone super fun. Don’t: forget to be extreme in moderation, go on an ego trip, engage in unnecessary drama, be disrespectful and trash your most significant relationships for the sake of fun.
Fret not. There’s a lot of positive attention heading your way, and you’ll easily be able to avoid drama and power trips. Ain’t nobody got time for that–you’re having too much fun to engage. Retrograde Pluto will re-enter Capricorn for the last time on the 11th. While heavy, unresolved issues might be drudged up once again, it’ll feel more like healing than re-hashing.
Now is the time to tie up any loose ends, but keep in mind that this is a collective transit that typically deals with collective issues. The rest of this year will be focused on resolving those deep-rooted issues we’ve been dealing with on a universal level for the past decade. It’s not as heavy as it sounds, though. We’ve been wrapping these things up for a long time. Today’s Gen Z-esque issues will not be the same problems we’re facing a year from now.
Thankfully, we’ve still got tons of action via Mercury and subsequently, Gemini. Things are still fun, even though that doesn’t sound like it will be. We’ve been beating the dead horse, and things that come up right now feel old-hat.
Mid-month, the mood is gauzy, delighted and dreamy. It’s like that part we’re starring in is, like, fairycore vibes. I’m thinking of Drew Barrymore in Ever After. Our cosmic regulator and standard-setter, Saturn, goes retrograde in Pisces on the 17th.
Try to stay grounded, but let yourself dream! This is an excellent time to lean into letting the universe do its work for you–the typical boundaries may not matter for now. What could usually hold you back is taking a backseat this summer, and we’re free. The usual rules need not apply. Let this energy be amplified at the New Moon in Gemini on the 17th.
It’s an all around blesséd month, as a Solstice month tends to be. The Sun makes its way into compassionate and intuitive Cancer on the 21st, marking the Summer Solstice (and/or Litha, if you’re nasty). Emotional connection, family ties and self-care are emphasized and encouraged. Take plenty of time to nurture yourself, spend quality time with your people and delight in the comforts of home.
On the 26th, Mercury will join the Sun in Cancer, stirring up some sentimental vibes. This could put a damper on the mood, but lean into the nostalgia of summers past and find magic in your recollections. This mood will come in handy on the 30th when Neptune goes retrograde in Pisces, too. This might have you feeling exposed, and you may have to confront parts of yourself you don’t particularly like hanging around with. It’s for the best, though.
It’s all for the best, actually, because June promises to be stimulating emotionally, spiritually and socially. There’s a lot of potential for excitement and exploration–be sure to communicate your needs and embrace your ability to play! Let yourself be guided by your curiosity and passions this month, and prioritize your well-being.

Everyone you encounter this month is enchanted by you! You’re a natural social butterfly, obvi, but this month is particularly vibey for you when it comes to communicating and building your relationships. This month could be an awesome time for you to make new friends and meet new people, seek out new opportunities for networking, and deepen your connection with your nearest and dearest. Cancer & Cancer Rising (June 21 – July 22):
Your mission this month, if you choose to accept it, is to prioritize your emotional well-being. I know this may be hard for you, but this month, I encourage you to put your own needs above those of everyone who thinks they need you. Obviously, there are particular circumstances where you are needed. I’m certainly not saying to neglect your children if you’re a mother–BUT what I am saying is to put the needs of those who treat you like a mother on the back burner. It’s not your job to raise a man (or a friend, or a boss, or a woman, etc. etc. etc.). You can only be held responsible for your own well-being, and so, read your mission again. Let it guide you, and when it does, listen. You don’t need to siphon your energy and intuition. Don’t allow yourself to be dulled. Just like you know how to listen to your intuition, you’re an expert at striking a balance between realism and otherworldliness—but sometimes even the most impossible impulses lead somewhere beautiful.

If the current iteration of You is not part of the equation why are you sticking around? The right people and situations will be patient and account for you. There’s no scenario or outcome in which stifling yourself or playing a part serves you—or anybody else! Remember, babe, you are the main character in your life. This is Your Life™️, not your partner’s, your bff’s, or your boss’s. They all get to be the main character in their life.
